Event Webinar Explosion Protection Dust Collector EN14491

BACKGROUND

Protection against dust explosions is crucial in industries for several reasons:

  1. Worker Safety: Dust explosions pose grave risks to workers, potentially causing injuries or fatalities.
  2. Property Preservation: Explosions can inflict extensive damage on industrial assets, leading to significant financial losses.
  3. Operational Continuity: Explosion-related shutdowns disrupt production schedules, impacting productivity and profitability.
  4. Environmental Concerns: Dust explosion aftermath may result in environmental pollution, attracting regulatory scrutiny and fines.
  5. Reputation and Legal Ramifications: Incidents tarnish a company’s reputation, trigger legal liabilities, and erode stakeholder trust.

ACCIDENT

One significant dust explosion accident occurred at the Imperial Sugar refinery in Port Wentworth, Georgia, USA, in February 2008. The explosion, triggered by combustible sugar dust, caused 14 fatalities, numerous injuries, and extensive damage to the facility. Investigations revealed factors such as inadequate housekeeping, lack of proper explosion protection systems, and insufficient training on dust explosion hazards. This incident emphasized the critical need for effective dust control and explosion prevention measures in industrial environments.

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

This is a FREE webinar that will significantly enhance your technical knowledge as a design engineer. The webinar discusses techniques, standards, and requirements in detail for protecting enclosure explosions caused by Combustible Dust according to the EN14491 standard for Dust Explosion Venting Protective Systems. For better understanding by participants, a case study is presented about rejuvenating a dust collector with vented explosion protection according to the EN14491 standard.

OBJECTIVE

  1. Provide Education and awareness to participants about risk associated with dust explosions and the importance of implementing proper explosion protection measures.
  2. Share Technical understanding to participants with a thorough understanding of the engineering principles and technical aspects involved in designing explosion protection venting burst systems for dust collectors.
